Jacqueline June Buchanan, 87, Indianapolis, IN passed away April 10, 2016. She was born on January 8, 1929 to Virgil and Grace Newman in East St. Louis, IL.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Homer Buchanan, daughter; Rozelle June Buchanan, sisters; Mary Margaret Newman, Dorothy Jane Beatley, Bette Ilene Breeden and Sue Ellen Huskisson, brothers; Robert Eugene Newman, Richard Lee Newman and William Harry Newman.
Jacqueline was a very hard worker her entire life. Her husband Homer passed away at a young age and she raised 6 children by herself with the youngest being 5 years old. She was an exceptional cook who never had to measure ingredients for recipes, she just knew how much to use and was well known for her sugar cookies that she made every Christmas. She loved being with her family and having large meals with them. And everyone including friends and neighbors were welcome to come over and enjoy. She enjoyed fishing and was a huge IU and Colts fan, she enjoyed watching all the games she could. There are a lot of memories and things we will remember about our mom but one of the most memorable things she said to us as kids was “I’m gonna give you something to cry about”. We will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her daughter; Sherry Spillane, son; Gregory Buchanan, son; Randy Buchanan, daughter; Donna Curtis, and daughter; Penny Jo Buchanan. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Calvary United Methodist Church 725 S. State Street, Indianapolis, IN.

Love you guys?I will miss Aunt Jackie. I too have wonderful memories growing up and spending time at your house. So glad I saw her before I came home after Mom’s funeral. She was so good that day. Knew who I was and wondered why we didn’t bring Mom. Amagine her surprise when she saw Mom already gone ahead of her?I didn’t really lie. I said Mom was doing great!??
